A Soul At Peace In A Year At War

 • Series: Stand-alone Talks

Slowness has gotten a bad reputation – we use it as an insult and even a derogatory term toward people, or bad service at a restaurant and to describe the weakness in an athlete. But when it comes to following Jesus, we are called to walk with Him, not run with Jesus. Slowness gives us the time we require to enjoy relationships, think about our behaviors, connect with mentors. “Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life in our day.” Dallas Willard Japanese Theologian, Kosuke Koyama once referred to Jesus as the “3mph God”. 3mph is the average speed of walking. Which is interesting because Jesus was never in a hurry, took His time with people, slowed down long enough to recognize the needs of people around him. Most importantly, He slowed down frequently to spend time with God. He had a soul at rest. Ethos is a life-giving community committed to keeping Jesus at its Center. Our vision is to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did so that we may love all people in Jesus' name. EthosOH.com Small Groups: EthosOH.com/Community ServeColumbus.org
