We have a hard time receiving grace because we live in a “You get what you deserve world.” We think if we are good, God will be good to us. Without realizing it we begin to believe our performance dictates how God feels about us. However, if we could make ourself right with God or obey Him enough to deserve His kindness, Jesus would have died for nothing. By taking our eyes off ourself and putting them onto Jesus we will be free from shame, and will begin to understand the love of our Father.
